In these difficult and uncertain times, the Humane Slaughter Association is still working to protect the welfare of animals “beyond the farm gate”.  In a recent statement, our CEO Huw Golledge said: “In these extraordinary times the HSA will be trying our best to continue supporting the welfare of animals during marketing, transport and at the time of slaughter. We are confident that we can continue many of our activities in these difficult times and will resume other activities as soon as we can.

As we come to the end of the decade, we also come to the end of an era as the HSA says farewell to its Chief Executive and Scientific Director, Dr Robert Hubrecht OBE.  Robert will be retiring at the end of this month, having led the charity with great skill and diplomacy for the previous five years, expertly navigating many difficult and emotive animal welfare issues which have arisen during his tenure.
