Every day, many millions of animals worldwide are transported, marketed and slaughtered for food. Like you, the HSA believes high standards of animal welfare must continue beyond the farm gate. It is the only UK charity exclusively promoting the humane treatment of all food animals, including cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, fish and 'exotic' species such as deer, in markets, during transport, at slaughter, and killing for welfare reasons and disease control.
Through research, education, training and technical advances, the HSA achieves real, practical and lasting improvements in food animal welfare.
An independent charity, the HSA relies on donations, membership subscriptions and legacies to continue its vitally important work.
Whether you are a consumer, producer, retailer or someone concerned about the welfare of animals, the HSA provides you with a proven way to achieve real welfare improvements beyond the farm gate.
Your donation, however small, can really make a difference. For example just £3 a month will help us to continue visits to markets and slaughterhouses. £10 a month enables us to provide up-to-date technical information and advice on all aspects of animal handling, transport and slaughter. You can make a monthly commitment by completing a Standing Order form
