The HSA’S Chief Executive and Scientific Director retires
12 December 2019
As we come to the end of the decade, we also come to the end of an era as the HSA says farewell to its Chief Executive and Scientific Director, Dr Robert Hubrecht OBE. Robert will be retiring at the end of this month, having led the charity with great skill and diplomacy for the previous five years, expertly navigating many difficult and emotive animal welfare issues which have arisen during his tenure.
The HSA’s programme of research, education and advice is unique and is helping to improve farmed animal welfare around the world. Under Robert’s stewardship, the charity has continued to extend its international role and effectiveness, grown its number of educational projects and expanded its programme of research. It has therefore been able to have a significant impact on the welfare of animals during transport, in markets, at slaughter, and killing for welfare reasons and disease control.
We would like to thank Robert for his dedication and his work for the charity. We will miss him and wish him the very best in his retirement.
