The HSA marks Remember a Charity Week
14 September 2017
Every year, more and more people like to leave a gift to charity in their Will. Most of our funds come from the generosity of our members and supporters; but it’s a little known fact that gifts in Wills are actually our most vital source of income. Charitable legacies are the foundation for causes like ours and are vital in continuing our work. Even a small amount can make a big difference.
Last year, gifts in Wills helped us to support a range of educational and research initiatives aimed at improving farm animal welfare, including a project to assess CCTV in slaughterhouses; continued support of on-going work on more humane methods of stunning turkeys, ducks and geese; and on methods of stunning cattle for Halal beef production.
As a member of Remember a Charity, we are taking part in Remember a Charity in your Will Week this week (11-17th September 2017) to help raise awareness of the importance of gifts left in Wills. Writing a Will is one of the most important things you will ever do and, after you’ve taken care of your loved ones, you too can pass something special on by including a charity you care about. A gift to the Humane Slaughter Association will help us to prevent suffering as well as continue to be a significant force in bringing about fundamental and long-lasting improvements in food animal welfare.
